Arising from the Suzuki philosophy, my teaching stems from the fundamental belief that all children can successfully learn to play an instrument, make music, and enjoy it for a lifetime. I view music as having great potential to enrich all aspects of life. This informs my approach to the study and experience of music. My teaching focuses on developing the whole musician in a learning environment that is both nurturing and structured. I emphasize healthy physical playing posture and the development of a relaxed and balanced cello technique to enable innate musicality. Reading and music theory are also core components of lessons. I teach both Traditional and Suzuki Methods. I am certified by the Suzuki Association of the Americas in the cello method, books 1-10.
